Synopsis:  The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts:  Let me just jump right in and say Half-Blood was awesome. I was able to read the prequel, Daimon, and it immediately gave me a feel for what this story was going to be about. Daimon provided me with a sense of voice for the main character, Alexandria, and I wanted to know more about her journey and I was eager with anticipation for Half-Blood to take me farther into her world.

Without a doubt, I wasn’t disappointed. The first chapter hooked me in with a great action scene and right away I got to see just how strong and determined the main female protagonist, Alexandria (Alex), was. I loved reading her voice and her character came alive through the pages as I devoured this book.

Aiden, a highly trained Sentinel, is the male lead in this book. Forget the fact that he’s gorgeous in his Covenant issued black outfit, but he’s mysterious, loyal, and committed to his job. He has a whole array of bad-ass fighting skills and he is definitely someone I’d want to have on my side with their war with the Daimons. Aiden is one amazing male lead and when you put him together with Alex, their chemistry is undeniable.

Jennifer Armentrout kept the pacing of the plot at just the right pace to keep me flipping the pages and staying up way past my bedtime. She definitely has mastered the ability of torturing her readers by applying just the right amount of tension two characters, to drive you crazy. And of course, just when you think all is going well…BAM…she hits you with a plot twist you didn’t see coming and you’re on the edge of your seat with anticipation for a satisfying conclusion. But my conclusion will have to come later when the second of four planned books to this series is out later next year.

My bottom line:  You need to pick up Half-Blood, it’s definitely a paranormal series you don’t want to miss out on!!
